The Human Spirit's limitless bounds 3rd edition
Well here is the final edition to the series. For this edition, I shall talk about the journey of Singapore and it's founding leader Mr Lee Kuan Yew and it's rise to success.(Please note that no offensive info will be used in this article and if I have unintentionally insulted anyone in particular please let me know I will rectify it immediately).
Well, let's start with the end of the war. After the return of the Brits, we were fed-up with the way the Brits had treated us and we wanted to govern ourselves. Of course, let's face reality, who would expect a small island like Singapore with almost no natural resources of finances to survive self-governance and prove ourselves worthy to have our own leadership. But NO! we said. We wanted to be the boss of our own country. We don't want some outsider ruling us. Thus Mr Lee went against the odds and during the 1959 General Elections, made a landslide victory of 43/51 seats. After our separation from the Federation of Malaysia, many told us that we would not survive. With no army, no economy. How were we to do it. But Mr Lee said this (summerise. not exact wording) :'we will fight for our future. We will make it through!' And now 44 years down the road, we have outstripped our neighbors and have gone further then what any nation dream to achieve. We are now a relatively big economies and one of the most important plus one of the most highly advanced nations.. This all thanks to man who believed, a man who had a vision, a man who had the will and strength to carry it all out and the support of his many hand-picked friends. A man all Singaporeans know as Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
What we have today, is all his thanks to his works and sweat. He made this dream possible in 30 years of service. A truly magnificent achievement as no country or leader had ever pushed a country so far under such a short time. Although he always says that what we have is Singaporeans hard work and that it is our unified strength that brought this, he forgets one thing. None of this working together, racial harmony and blooming economy due to hard work could have been done without his guidance and leadership. A true testament to spirit and Mr Lee after 44 years of independence and 50 years after we shouted 'MERDEKA!" we all thank you.
